First off, sincere condolences to anyone affected by the fire incident that occurred on the 26th. It’s honestly heartbreaking and I hope those affected are able to recover quickly and safely.
That being said, I’m really wondering what they’re gonna do rn. It just doesn’t feel right to go ahead with such a huge celebration concert award show when something this tragic just happened. Feels kinda disrespectful no matter how you look at it.
But at the same time, this whole thing is super pushed by the HongKong government, and canceling now would also mean massive financial losses for them. And I bet a ton of money has alr been spent on the sets, the stage, and the promos asw.
But even if they don’t cancel, they probably have to completely change the vibe. The performances would need to be toned down and more solemn, which lowkey defeats the whole point of MAMA. Atp though I cant help but think they should just postpone it or something.
But still, postponing doesn’t seem that realistic either. This happened less than 48 hours before the show, so most artists probably are already here (or on the way), with rehearsals done or ongoing. And furthermore, some stages apparently even had fire elements that they can’t exactly just remove last minute.(and some fire related songs which would be inappropriate at this point of time)
The only thing I can think of is prerecording a bunch of stuff, but then again how wld they handle the award announcements? (ik that’s the least important issue rn but still uk, since were talking about mama)
Honestly I feel that whatever they decision end up being, its still a pretty hard place to be in, what do yall think?
