For me it’s definitely Boa. I was watching one of her interviews where it was mentioned that she had no manager during the earlier years of her career and it had me thinking.
What if she had never gotten scouted? I think it’s a pretty well known fact for those familiar with her and even industry insiders that Boa practically saved SM from bankruptcy. So if she hadn’t gotten scouted and subsequently debuted would SM have gone bankrupt or would the groups before her like S.E.S been able to pull through? And if SM had gone bankrupt then we wouldn’t have gotten all the iconic groups that came after her like SNSD, Red Velvet, Exo, aespa, etc.
Also if SM had gone bankrupt then JYP (the person) would have never auditioned and subsequently failed his SM audition. If SM was never a thing would he have auditioned for a different label and succeeded? The he would have never been motivated to make his own label and we wouldn’t have Jype and all it’s iconic groups.
Also if Jype was never formed then JYP and Bang Sihyuk would have never met. JYP wouldn’t have helped BSH with his earlier music endeavors. I’m not too clear on the details but I do know JYP helped with his very first groups like 2am,Glam and even BTS. So would we even have Big Hit and all the other groups?
Also Boa was the first kpop idol to break out in the Japanese market which obviously made it more viable for other groups and soloists to pursue it and farther increase the popularity of kpop in Japan. So if she hadn’t debuted would the market have been conquered by another group/soloist or would it have remained a barrier. Then would we even have all these amazing Japanese releases and versions of songs.
And SM was a major pioneer for kpop so would kpop even be what it is right now? All these what ifs just because of one person.
