“Vocals Harmonies are missing from KPOP…but have you heard of”:

Seen this conversation happening a lot over twitter and tiktok, that post early 3rd gen, vocals have been de-prioritized. This conversation has been discussed quite a lot, even here, but I think it bears a larger discussion on how KPOP has primarily focused on performance and visuals and creating viral “sounds” for short form content.

Now that KPOP has expanded its global reach, especially with a movie like Kpop Demon Hunters, whose soundtrack occupies the Billboard top 10, more people are looking at the genre to get their boygroups/girlgroup hit. They want the emotional ballads, stunning harmonies, fun poppy dance songs with solid synchronized choreo…but who is doing all three?

I think its rare to find a group that encompasses all of that.

Who would you say hits the mark the closest? Is that mark even achievable in this era of Kpop?
