Katseye’s exponential growth with barely 1.5 year into their carrier is commendable…but with that I think they have also grabbed tons of negative attention, now I think people are over scrutinizing the group and their every moves and performances…Even in Katseye sub people are talking about the dresses and over sexualization over the group…Although I understand, and this criticism seems valid coz yoonchae and megan are very young (yoonchae is a minor and megan is barely an adult), but for all the other members I don’t think the same…I mean to say the way Katseye members behave makes me believe that their contract is not very rigid unlike the other kpop groups and they do have a say in what they wear….or atleast they have the right to say ‘no’ to a dress that feels uncomfortable…..and if someone is happy and confident wearing certain dresses than its up to them…yes we can like it or dislike it based on our personal preference but we are not in a place to dictate what they should/should not wear….
Their recent performance in NRJ awards was heavily critisized…I watched the performance assuming it must be terrible only to find out it was a decent live performance….yeah not their best….but still not worth of so much critisism….Then in their comment section and I have often seen comments like ‘sex sells’, ‘corporate barbies’ and comments like ‘they want to blow up in the west but they do not even wrote their own music’,’They were known as strong performers until they performed this shit’….etc
Yes, I agree with some of the criticism like their songs are pretty generic and Hybe bought several demos and slapped them together in an album and named it Beautiful Chaos and the songs in the album failed to showcase their vocals.Also, many people felt that the transition from SIS era to the Beautiful chaos era felt like a hasty decision..and the transition from SIS era to the Beautiful chaos era was not smooth, and I completely agree with these criticism.
I mean they have a lot to learn and grow…and they have not found their identity as a group and their is always a room for improvements and learning .But, at the end of the day Katseye is a 1.5 year group. Can’t we be a a bit more easy on them???
