The IT Boy/Girl title for 4th and 5th Gen is odd to me

As I’ve been in K-pop for a consistent 10 years (technically 15 years) The recent 4th & 5th Gen fans have made IT a hot internet term to volley back & forth. What I don’t get is why not let idols BE “IT” instead of trying to enforce their influence. I see some of that natural idea in idols like Jennie, G-Dragon, Lee Hyori, Yoona SNSD, etc.

Yes, I see the demand in Karina, Wonyoung & kinda Felix SKZ (sorta). Being IT is your own energy that’s captivating in aura, visuals, being able to move at your own pace yet turning everything you touch into a phenomenon. Group rallying a member of your favorite group and shoehorning them in every conversation, isn’t that the antithesis to being an IT girl/boy?

Or maybe it’s because social media makes it easy to create faux buzz & hype that could snowball into tangible enough popularity.
