Sub for onion in bulgogi?

Yes, I’m a weirdo that doesn’t like onions. BUT as I get older, even when I do get one down, it gives me horrific acid reflux, though usually in processed foods it’s okay.

Fast forward, I’ve tried a few bulgogi marinades and they’re mid at best. I decided to make one, and wow it’s amazing.

I just subbed the pear for the onion, but it is too sweet. I grated the pear and it was really juicy. I’m thinking next time less juice, and no sugar. But is there a mild apple I could use instead? Or would that push to more sweet?

Oh also I’m doubling the ginger next time too lol.

But honestly even too sweet it is so much better than any bottle brand I tried.
