Short Stuff 70 : ehdi, gikuhasi, Seoul Dabansa, 3rd Line Butterfly, glumroll, DETUNE, Rock N Roll Radio

ehdi : Glitz

At first listen, “Glitz” sounds like a mix of early Glen Check and From The Airport. ehdi, an electronic rock duo, creates addictive music. The song is a smooth and catchy single.

gikihasu : Parade

“Alien” was a cross-genre song and this time, gikihasu is combining indie rock and shoegaze together. It’s an engaging track showing composition growth.

Seoul Dabansa : Seoul City Runner

“Seoul City Runner” is a mix of citypop and funk. Seoul Dabansa has created a song that fits the title. The tempo is perfect for a moderate pace and the song comes through like waves to keep your momentum up.

3rd Line Butterfly : Residue of a Whisper

The return of 3rd Line Butterfly in 2025 was unexpected. They announced the hiatus in 2019, and “Residue of a Whisper” is a different kind of band. This song is a teaser that hints at what the EP will be. It gives me early Radiohead tones, but that could be because I’m going back to early albums.

glumroll : TORNADO

“TORONADO” sounds like an operatic electronic emo song. It moves quickly and centers on a moderate tone. I was expecting a bigger crescendo, but the more I listen to the song, I think it sounds like a transition. Solid, but setting the stage for something else.

DETUNE : Dogshit

When I listen to “Dogshit,” I feel like the song is solid and everything fits perfectly. The problem is the song’s mix. It rips the dynamic energy that this song is trying to offer. Everything feels a little muted when things should be loud and in your face. DETUNE has a great foundation that needs a little less polish.

Rock N Roll Radio : Succubus

The other surprise 2025 return was Rock N Roll Radio. The band has been generally quiet since their 2019 full length with a few singles. “Succubus” reminds me that this band could easily have international recognition and perform at big festivals. A unique and signature sound that Korean music needs.
