People really can’t be normal about Xlove

I recently came across Xlov while watching a random Kpop dance video and honestly I was left gagged. Right now I’m super obsessed with 1&Only, the visuals, the choreo, the music, I just love everything about it. Since they debuted pretty recently their discography is still small, so I started listening to the rest of their songs and ended up really enjoying them too, especially 1 of LOV. I’m definitely looking forward to their next release. Every single member shines in their own way and Rui especially caught my eye, he’s insanely pretty.

When I looked them up on Tiktok, so many of people in the comments were openly homophobic. I’m not even that surprised at this point, but of course it’s disappointing. It’s so ironic. People are fine with shipping male idols that are doing fanservice, and calling more feminine idols “mother” but the second there’s an actual genderless group, they suddenly feel “threatened” and draw a line.

I also noticed that some boy group stan feel threatened by Xlov, since their faves have members who are known for being more genderless. It’s almost like they don’t want an actually fully genderless group, because they feel like their “stealing” the spotlight, I don’t know if you understand what I mean. Then there are the people who try to compliment them but end up saying weird stuff like “oh they dance better than female idols” they remind me of those girl groups stans that can’t praise their favs without bashing boy groups, literally the same and both annoying.

It really feels like people don’t know how to act towards this group, it made me realize the amount of homophobic kpop stans that are in this fandom. Either they’re openly homophobic, they sound homophobic, or they use the group as an excuse to be misogynistic towards female idols. Very few people I’ve seen are actually normal about them, which is such a shame.

People could just focus on what really matters: the group’s message, their style, their artistry, and the way they express themselves. I genuinely hope they’ll get more recognition and open the door for more genderless boy and girl groups. That would be so amazing to see.
