Lim Jong-ryong, chairman of Woori Financial Group, has been designated as the candidate for the next chairman, virtually achieving a successful reappointment.
Woori Financial announced on Dec. 29 that it held a chairman candidate recommendation committee meeting and selected Lim as the final candidate for the next representative director and chairman.
The recommendation committee officially initiated the next chairman selection process on Oct. 29 this year and has since narrowed down the shortlist to a total of four candidates, including Lim, Woori Bank President Jeong Jin-wan, and two external candidates. The committee conducted final interviews with these candidates and selected Lim as the final candidate through voting.
Lim is known to have received high evaluation for establishing a foundation for the leap of Woori Financial Group toward becoming a comprehensive financial group, achieving the highest performance in the company’s history, and establishing an internal control framework.
