BlackRock, the world’s best-known asset manager, announced on Tuesday that it has appointed Lee Yoon Pyo as managing director and head of its South Korea operations, effective December 20.
Lee, who joins Morgan Stanley Investment Management, where he served as head of Korea, will be responsible for developing and executing BlackRock’s long-term business strategy in South Korea.
The appointment comes as South Korean institutional investors increasingly diversify their portfolios into alternatives, active investments, and index funds, BlackRock noted.
“His deep investment expertise is particularly relevant at present, given clients and investors are looking for whole portfolio advice to diversify investment more globally,” BlackRock’s deputy head of Asia Pacific Hiroyuki Shimizu said.
Lee brings over 25 years of experience in private and public market investment and business development.
Before his role at Morgan Stanley, he served as co-CEO at Truston Asset Management and held senior positions at the National Pension Service of Korea.
