Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Growing up, one of my closest friends was Korean and her mom used to make dinner for us after school. Their family would send them Tupperware containers full of homemade dishes, but the one I still think about all the time is her whole leaf kimchi. It was one of the highlights of my childhood.
As an adult, I’ve been trying to find something even close to that flavor and texture. Most of what I can find where I live in the U.S. are the pre-shredded, jarred versions, and they just don’t compare. Some of them just taste like sauerkraut. The flavor feels flat, and I really miss that deep, rich flavor with crunch.
I’d love to try making my own, but my local produce options are really limited and not great quality, so I’m hoping to order from somewhere instead. If anyone has recommendations for: • truly authentic whole-leaf kimchi • brands or small batch shops you trust • places to order online in the U.S. I would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance!
