Like… are people just being purposefully dense right now? I already knew people were going to throw a fit so that doesn’t surprise me, but I didn’t expect the main form of criticism to just not make sense lol.
Ofcourse they’re just starting out, that’s literally what the award is about. I can’t stand when fans will just act dismissive in situations like this. Katseye has been, well honestly THE biggest new artist this year. From all the people nominated, I expected them to win.
The amount of jealous posts I’ve already seen of Kpop fans especially acting bitter and making posts like “Other kpop groups who have been working hard for years seeing Katseye take all the awards” is just silly at this point. I can’t repeat this enough, that’s what the award is about, it’s about rewarding new up and coming artists. (though the Marias was also awarded and they’ve been around for like a decade so I guess it’s about rewarding artists that became really big this year, even then, Katseye still fits that criteria)
People always love to hype up new artists up until they start threatening their faves and then all of a sudden it’s ‘they don’t deserve it’ or ‘they’re overrated’, it’s a tired pattern.
BTW, this is NOT about their nomination for Gabriela, that’s another story where I PERSONALLY think it wasn’t really deserved, this is only about their win as best new artist
(This already reminds me of like a few years ago where fans were crying about New Jeans winning song of the year with ditto after it being one of THE most popular songs all year round (and best might I add), all of a sudden it wasn’t that popular and other songs were more deserving)
