Opening: She kicked things off with Filter (I think?)—it was… fine. Not bad, just not super attention-grabbing either. The outfit though? Stunning. Crowd was into it, but the super loud backtrack kinda took away from the moment.
Mantra: Okay, it’s already looking like she’s tired. She barely sings most of the song—maybe nerves? Understandable. The dancers are seriously holding it down though. Props to them!
Dance Break: Fun and energetic! Definitely added some spice to the set.
Falling / We Gotta Talk About It: Again, barely any live vocals… and she looks exhausted already?? It’s early in the set too, which makes it a bit worrying.
Start A War: She sings more here (yay!)—probably because it’s a slower track with no dancing. Not fully live but definitely better. Also… I actually like this song a lot!
ZEN!!: Finally! Some real live singing!! You can tell she’s still breathless but the production here is nice and she seems a bit more settled. Still feels like nerves are messing with her pacing though.
After the Ment: Backtrack is still loud but at least we can hear her a bit better now. Vocals are improving! She’s trying to get the crowd involved, but they’re not really reacting… and honestly, I get it. If you’re a casual listener, most of the songs so far aren’t super recognizable. Could’ve thrown in a few better-known ones for more energy.
Kali Uchis appears! Not sure what the song is, but the vibe is sultry and smooth. Kali’s voice is such a vibe and fits the stage perfectly.
Love Hangover: Definitely something off with the audio here. BUT! The rap section? Exactly the kind of live energy I wanted from her all along.
Seoul City: Now this was a good one! Cool, sexy, chill city vibes. Great mix of singing and dancing. One of the strongest moments for sure.
ExtraL: Finally a song everyone knows… but it somehow felt a bit boring?? How?? This song has SO much potential and energy. I really hope Week 2 brings someone like Doechii on stage and Jennie amps up the performance a bit.
Also… she kept asking “Are you keeping up?” and I hate to say it, but girl… it’s you who seems to be struggling to keep up at times.
Way Up?: Backtrack’s back at full volume (again). But she’s at least hyping the crowd, trying to bring that energy up. She leaves the stage for a bit after this.
Like Jennie: YES!! The one we were all waiting for. Finally the crowd reacts! Best performance of the night hands down. She gave up singing by the end but honestly, totally understandable with the choreo. Big moment.
Final song (Starlight?): She’s so visibly tired but still giving good energy. It’s frustrating because she clearly has the ability to deliver, but sometimes she just holds back and it feels like a missed opportunity.
Ending Ment: Short, sweet, and cute. A nice way to close it all out.
Final Thoughts:
-
Loved that she didn’t waste time changing outfits—yet still gave variety. Visually, it was never boring!
-
She started off super nervous but improved as the set went on. The second half was much stronger overall.
-
The backing track was way too loud at times. Would’ve loved more live singing—it really makes a difference.
-
The setlist was more for hardcore fans than casual listeners. I respect the artistic choice, but a few fan-favorites might’ve helped bring more energy to the stage.
-
Overall… an okay performance. Definitely underwhelming in parts, especially given how hyped it was. Personally, I wouldn’t pay more than $100 to see this version live—but she has the potential to kill it with just a few changes.
