It went viral on twitter yesterday, where she said it during Minju’s pink cabinet after talking about Itzy’s contract renewals (where she said they all gave eachother space to think to avoid pressurising eachother) and advice for staying as a whole group.
She basically advised to not hang out on days off because it helps you realise how much the members mean to you since you’ll miss them more.
Lots of people got pissed off because Ryujin’s known for her very close friendships with her actress friends (Lee Sunbin, Han SuA, Roh Jeongeui ect) and idol besties (Karina, Somi, Yuri, Isa, Jihyo) and always is going viral for being spotted hanging out with them or being talked about by them whenever Itzy aren’t promoting.
Some Midzys (plus derranged shippers, obviously) are mad that she’s ‘prioritising’ her friends rather than the members. And then she did an interview for Polo Ralph Lauren where she said she loves her job, but her friends and family matter a lot more to her (which should be obvious), which only fuelled the fire.
People are also mad because they think it’s bad advice and compared it to other groups’ relationships, bashing Itzy by calling them coworkers.
I honestly think nobody is obligated to be more than coworkers, but Itzy are known for their close relationships. I personally think it’s healthy taking a break from seeing someone you’re with 24/7, because it can lead to irritation for some. Itzy are also famous for never having fought before, so I guess it’s worked these past 7 years for them. I also think working on relationships behind the scenes is a lot more crucial than playing it up for the cameras and secretly despising eachother.
