I thought about this because of some discourse I’ve been seeing online regarding Taehyung, Jimin and Jungkook and how Taehyung supposedly isn’t as close to them as fans expected (the trip between them is what mostly gets mentioned for people looking for the discourse themselves).
I personally don’t see what people are seeing in the regard, they all seem close to me. But, even if they weren’t, even if there may have been some falling out, so what?
I feel like cases like this, where fans are genuinely upset over this, is when they cross the parasocial line a bit. I know this has been said again and again, but they are coworkers first and foremost. Do you get along with all your coworkers (or classmates for the younger ones here) equally? No, I’m pretty sure you don’t.
Ofcourse being in a band together is more than being coworkers in a lot of aspects, you very often live together too, but right now the BTS members don’t anymore. They have friends outside of the band, they went to the military and were seperated for like almost 2 years, and they very possibly could be in relationships, which takes up a lot of time too.
It’s completely normal for the members to need some time again to build up their friendship, it’s normal that some members stayed closer than others (I mean weren’t Jimin and Jungkook together during military time? I think going through something like that strenghtens your bond if anything).
The members still seem incredibly close, but they don’t live together anymore and they’re getting older and building up their own lives and relationships, just like how you yourself are not going to be as close with your friendgroup in like a decade as you are now.
It’s a sad reality of life but it’s normal and Kpop groups and their bond aren’t exempt to this.
