Is sweet potato really that big of a deal in Korea? 🍠

I’ve been messaging an older Korean friend I met on Connecting, and they told me favorite food is sweet potato. 🍠

I asked, “Is it true there’s actually sweet potato pizza in Korea?” and turns out, it’s 100% real!

When I asked if it wasn’t too sweet, they said people eat it with spicy food. That “sweet & spicy” combo is a total culture shock for me. We don’t really have sweet potato on pizza here in Japan, so I’m pretty blown away by Korean food culture. Anyone else tried it? Is it as good as they say? 🍕

Also, Lee Know from Stray Kids mentioned he prefers sweet potatoes over potatoes, which really solidifies my impression that sweet potatoes are a big deal in Korea.

Personally, I’m a fan of just simple steamed sweet potatoes. They’re the best. 🍠
