To preface I’m a casual fan of Le Sserafim. I like the music and the group and keep up with their releases and occasionally watch some of their content but don’t really engage much with the fandom side of things and I dont even think I have a bias.
Recently I came across a lot of discourse about how Source Music doesn’t push Sakura as much as the other members. I know this is going into solo stan discussion territory but objectively reading it, I kind of saw their point.
She barely gets any lines in their songs (and I can understand that maybe she doesnt want to sing as much which is fine) but also gets minimal screen time even in japanese releases like Different and also didnt get any solo stages during the end of year performances.
I think this whole discussion started with kazuha going to fashion week becoming the first le sserafim member to attend. People were mad that sakura was invited years ago by louis vuitton and couldnt go because they were filming leniverse which is their group content. Even the LV deal was first Sakura’s which somu turned into a group ambassadorship.
Im just confused cause it seems like a lot of le sserafim’s sales come from Sakura’s fanbases and I understand not pandering to solo fans but it seems like the opposite is happening where one member clearly seems to not be promoting as much.
Usually groups especially ggs benefit from having a clear center or a stan attractor like wonyoung/yujin, wonhee, karina/winter and these members often get pushed by the company too and i feel like le sserafim especially after the hate train could benefit from pushing sakura more (cause she seems to be good at variety content / gaming etc) but theyre not for some reason.
