I was talking about this to other people that I noticed this trend on hating Korea these days. But everyone seems to say that they haven’t noticed it. So I’m wondering if I’m alone in this or if I’m getting gaslit.
Literally every month there’s several things about Korea that goes viral(usually negative) that gets millions of views and gets people spewing some insane racism towards Koreans. This month it was the whole ragebait saga of Korean conservatives vs Southeast Asians and the Chainsaw Man controversy.
These days the most hated Asians online in my experience seem to be Indians, Chinese people, and recently Koreans. Chinese hate is actually starting to decrease especially in the West thanks to rising soft power which is a great thing.
Koreans get a lot of hate for things like racism, sexism, bigotry, etc. All of these are valid criticisms of Korea but people start using it as an excuse to hate all Koreans. As a big fan of kpop and kdramas, even kpop and kdramas fans can be very racist to Koreans even though consume Korean media.
I think Koreans will start becoming the new group of people to demonize.
