So if you haven’t heard, Twice recently performed at the Victoria Secret show. It was only 4 members performing, and while they looked stunning, the performance was lacking and is so far only giving them negative traction from the west.
From the moment they revealed they would perform I just thought to myself, “yeah this is not at all how they’re going to win over western audiences”. It honestly doesn’t even have a lot to do with Twice as a group, I just think a group performing at something like the Victoria Secret show doesn’t really work, considering it’s an event where the focus should be on the models, and an entire group of performers, doing dances, doesn’t really fit there. Neither do any of their songs really fit the Victoria Secret vibe.
Anyhow, I don’t want this post to seem like a hate post, but at the same time I do see the double standard in how so many people get so defensive in this conversation (from what I have seen so far), but when it’s certain other groups they get absolutely bombarded with hate.
JYP is trying to cater them to western audiences, and with their discography I think they can pull in a lot of fans, but I don’t think this was the move at all.
