I’ve seen some articles they’re debuting on August 18th, and honestly, I’m excited
So far, the rookie boy group scene this year feels kind of… underwhelming?
Felt less competitive or exciting.
Many of them have good album sales, but their performance on domestic and global charts has been pretty disappointing.
Domestically, none of them even made it into Melon Top 100.
Some people say it’s generally harder for boy groups to appeal to the general public early on
I’m wondering if that’s a fair statements.
On the girl group side, it’s little bit better.
Groups like Izna, KiiiKiii, and Hearts2Hearts have shown solid momentum.
There was even some early media play around a “H2H vs KiiiKiii” rivalry, which made things a bit more interesting, although it faded pretty quickly.
ADP also made a strong entrance, adding more fun to this year’s rookie group scene.
Meanwhile, the boy group side feels really quiet, aside from buzz within their own fandoms, but that doesn’t really count as real conversation.
So with BigHit entering the scene soon, I’m hoping it brings more energy and conversation around rookie boy groups as a whole.
It’d be even more fun if SMTR25 debuted too, but I guess they’ll be considered 2026 rookies.
Anyway, what do you guys think about this year’s rookie boy groups? Or just rookie groups in general so far?
