I feel like having a Southeast Asian member in a K-pop group has a significant impact.

First, SEA is one of the biggest markets in the K-pop industry. They have strong national pride, they’re super active on social media, and they generate a ton of buzz because there are so many of them online.

It’s different from Korea, Japan, or China, where fans likes to stay in their own online spaces and don’t interact much with global fans.

SEA fans interact with everyone, and a lot of them speak English too.

Visually, many of them are pretty and can fit Korea’s beauty standards as well.

It’s kinda like when you’re playing a racing game, at the start you get a nitro boost for a few seconds so you can ahead of the other players.

For example, groups like VVUP, XODIAC, UNIS, and AHOF, they’re from mid-sized companies but have SEA members.

I’m honestly surprised by how huge their engagement is. It’s like getting free paid ads. With that much engagement, the algorithm basically works in their favor on social media.

I’m not sure they would’ve gotten that level of engagement if they didn’t have SEA members

But in the end, it still depends on how the company uses that advantage

What do you guys think?
