I live in India so I am familiar with all kinds of hocus pocus. We take superstition to a completely new level. We have astrology here which gets used as a tool to maintain caste hegemony via arranged marriages and oppress women but the thing is at least among educated circles people know not to take it seriously.
What I mean to say is that while shamanism is almost like a religion in Korea it is just that… a religion. A social construct that has less basis in logic and facts and more in human beliefs and faith. A shaman cannot curse you because curses don’t exist even if you believe they do. Just two days ago my family got my “kundli” checked by an astrologer. Apparently I am supposed to get married this year. Mind you I am still a student.
I see fans bring up how Min used a shaman to curse certain groups and even conspired for BTS’s downfall but I find the hysteria to be quite bizarre. Obviously I don’t take shamans, magic, gods and religion seriously so someone asking their shaman friend when BTS will enlist is equivalent to someone asking ChatGPT when BTS will enlist. In fact these days there are AI fortune tellers and tarot readers so there you go lol.
Anyways the outrage never made sense to me. If those texts are true then it’s very obviously laughable. This is the equivalent of looking at your future in a crystal ball.
