I don’t buy it when people are asking aespa to “go back to kwangya”

This complain seems to pop up everytime aespa releases something nowadays, but I just don’t buy it.

Not that I DON’T like Kwangya. I just find it ironic, because kpop stans were extremely critical of aespa initially.

Just take a look at old threads about aespa on Reddit. Black Mamba was called “generic”, Next Level was looked down upon (“why can’t people make normal songs anymore” popped up a lot……), and Savage was called cringe.

So I don’t think kpop stans liked the Kwangya concept. They like nostalgia, they like saying that they were here when this happened, but I don’t think they know how to enjoy a song in the moment, as it is happening. I can’t think of very many kpop songs now considered iconic that were universally praised upon release, despite what people will say later.

Remember, it’s not about liking or not something, everyone has different opinions about this, it’s more about revisionism.
