I just listened to their TT, “Good Thing”, twice. First to focus purely on the MV and the sound, then again with the lyrics. Sonically, it didn’t really click for me. The chorus felt weak both musically and lyrically. The hook vaguely reminded me of “Tomboy,” which is easily my favorite of theirs, but this one felt like a poor man’s version in terms of impact. The song length was super short (2.5 minutes), but honestly I wasn’t bothered by the length so much as the lack of vibe.
Let’s talk lyrics. I have no clue what this song’s actually saying. I’ve seen some people call it a satire on relationships or the K-pop industry. Even if that was the intention, I don’t think it was delivered properly via words. I get that Soyeon isn’t into rigid English grammar and often drops lines that just sound catchy, but here it feels lazy. If most of the track is in English, I think it would be better if they had someone to level up the lyrical quality and make it feel more polished. The chorus and the post-chorus doesn’t really stick with me and I don’t think it’s something I would sing out loud.
