I’m a high schooler and we’ve been learning about when white people found out east Asia exists. And the text refers Korea and our royal dudes as the “Min dynasty”. I don’t know if this is cuz they took power much later and for a shorter time, or they just don’t want to refer to us in this period as “Korea” cuz it’s honestly rlly infuriating. But it has been SO HARD to listen to class these days cuz all I hear are “the mins did these stupid aah things! How stupid!” “The mins let all these powerful countries that don’t give a shit about us now walk all over us! How depressing!” And as someone who always wanted to know what my ancestors did I am so incredibly annoyed. And it’s not like I can pretend that we’re at least in different clans cuz we are not, there’s is only one fucking min clan in this vast fucking world. I know I’m not the direct descendant cuz the Japanese killed them all or something, but I feel slightly microaggressed every single history class. And the worst part is that I love this kind history. Regretfully, I’m not tapped into our own history and happenings, so I liked getting to see America and Denmark and France or whatever. I also always wondered what the relationships between us and other countries were since we are one of the small countries that got colonized and robbed to death and a lot of adults around me can get real angry for seemingly no reason, so I also loved that I got to have new things to get petty over WITH them. I feel robbed of an enjoyable and informative experience since I got so annoyed that I basically didn’t listen at all. Just a stupid rant I wanted to do for no reason.
