Had the weirdest thing happen today in Seoul, can anyone help me understand what happened?

So today, it’s raining like crazy in Seoul.

Anyway, I was waiting at a metro exit with a friend of mine, because we didn’t have an umbrella. We’re both foreigners and just traveling. We were trying to get into a restaurant on the other side of the street, and waiting for the worst of the rain to pass.

Honestly, it might play a role here, but I’ll mention it. We’re both European, but my friend is insanely gorgeous. She’s like a supermodel, I mean she could be if she wanted to. I’m most definitely not a supermodel, to put it lightly.

Anyway, people are coming out of the metro station, and a Korean guy stops and asks my friend in English if she needs to get under his umbrella and where she’s going. My friend says „we are going to restaurant X there“ and he’s like „ok“ and allows my friend to get under the umbrella very politely. My friend signals for me to join too and the guy just says with zero hesitation „no not her, just you“. I just ended up following them in the rain, lol. The umbrella definitely could’ve fit more than 2 people underneath it.

We got to the restaurant and he was insanely polite to her, but didn’t look at me, acknowledge me, and just looked away when I said thank you on my friends behalf. She did tell me later that he was super nice and helpful to her, which makes it even weirder that he was so weird towards me.

This is just a bit mind boggling. I’m not too offended, maybe a little bit, but mostly just confused. What is going on?
