G-Dragon, one of South Korea’s most iconic pop figures, is set to bring his unmistakable stage energy to a global audience. The BigBang frontman will perform at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit’s welcome dinner — the only K-pop artist invited to take part in the high-profile event.
According to his agency Galaxy Corporation, G-Dragon will perform on October 31 at the Lahan Hotel Grand Ballroom in Gyeongju, where leaders and senior officials from 21 APEC member economies will gather.
“G-Dragon will elevate Korea’s cultural stature through an innovative and creative performance that embodies the spirit of the APEC Summit,” the agency said in a statement on Tuesday.
The artist, who was appointed as an official APEC promotional ambassador in July, has already drawn global attention with the summit’s promotional video he appeared in — which has garnered over 19 million views on YouTube as of this week.
An official from the APEC Summit Preparatory Committee said, “As a globally influential figure, G-Dragon is the ideal artist to convey APEC’s values of connectivity and sustainability to audiences worldwide. We expect an outstanding performance at the welcome dinner.”
