G-Dragon has once again reaffirmed his status as a global fashion icon. The South Korean superstar was the only Asian artist to appear on Complex Networks’ “21st Century Best Dressers,” ranking 16th among the world’s most influential style leaders.
Complex released its curated list, featuring G-Dragon alongside cultural heavyweights such as Kanye West, Rihanna, Pharrell Williams, and David Beckham. His placement further underscores a reputation long established across the fashion industry—an artist whose influence extends far beyond music.
In its profile, Complex noted that while today’s K-pop idols are widely recognized for their sharp style and coveted by luxury houses, “those who’ve been around since the early days know that G-Dragon set the standard.”
From the outset of his career, G-Dragon’s singular eye for aesthetics cemented him as a defining trendsetter. Whether it was Alexander McQueen’s skull scarves, Comme des Garçons pieces, or Nike’s Air More Uptempo sneakers, he seamlessly bridged high fashion and streetwear long before the fusion became mainstream. His appointment in 2016 as Chanel’s first Asian male global ambassador further solidified his standing on the global fashion stage.
Collaborations with Nike and Jacob & Co. have repeatedly sparked worldwide trends, each release amplifying his distinctive brand power. He has also played a pivotal role in bringing gender-fluid styling—once unconventional for male artists—into the mainstream, influencing both the luxury sector and the broader K-pop landscape.
Industry observers say the latest recognition reflects the impact he has built over two decades, shaping not only how K-pop presents itself but also how global fashion engages with Asian artistry.
