The post is about the owner of 보신탕(dog meat stew) restaurant quitting their business and working on dog spa. But that’s not what I’m shocked about. Most of the comments say that eating dog meat is okay and it’s weird how people feel it’s different from eating beef and port. But it is different. In korea, the government doesn’t consider dogs as ‘livestock’ so there’s no law for regulating their living condition slaughter. So unlike cows and pigs, they live in cages so small they can’t stand up, beaten until unconscious, and then skinned alive to make the meat ‘tender’. And koreans know that. They know that 개장수(dog meat farmers) kidnap stray dogs and abuse them, and they still think it’s not wrong. They say there are dog breeds specifically for meat(식용견). I am Korean myself, and i thought this way of thinking was long gone. I thought it belonged to previous generations and not millennials or gen-z. But here we are.
