Do your fav’s personal music tastes line up with the kind of music they release?

Idk if this makes sense but I was chatting with a friend today about how I wasn’t surprised when V dropped Layover because the album (and his singles following Layover too, tbh) really fit the vibe of the kind of music he’s always recommended.

I get that a lot of idols don’t have much say in their musical direction since companies usually call the shots more often than not. And even when they do get some freedom, it’s tricky because they have to balance everyone’s tastes in the group.

But I’m curious if there are idols (or groups) who do have creative control but still put out music that feels way off from the musical direction they’ve expressed they favour. Of course, it’s normal to experiment here and there, but I’m just talking about when you consider their entire catalog as a whole and the genres they stick to – does it make sense for them based on what they’ve expressed/shared? (pls tell me I’m making sense here lol)
