Do you think there are any downsides to having foreign Asian members in K-pop groups?

I’m still quite surprised whenever I see some labels debut groups without any foreign Asian members. Having a Japanese, Thai, or Chinese(though Chinese member can be a bit more complicated) member gives an automatic gateway into those markets and a huge boost in fandom size, offering so many advantages. Not that there’s anything wrong with having a full Korean team, it’s actually more welcomed domestically. But a group made up entirely of Korean members has to work significantly harder to break into those markets compared to groups with multiple foreign members. That’s why I was particularly surprised to see a group like KiiiKiii debut with an all-Korean lineup, especially considering their sister group has a Japanese member who is most popular outside of Wonyoung and Yujin.

Do you think it’s necessary to add foreign member(s) in a group or is it not that important?
