Do you think South Korea should adopt a parliamentary system?

The presidential system currently implemented in South Korea is the root cause of the current political turmoil. Under the present system, both the President and the National Assembly are directly elected by citizens. The President does not have the authority to dissolve the National Assembly, and the threshold for the National Assembly to impeach the President is very high. As a result, when the President and the majority of the Assembly members belong to different political parties, sharp conflicts between legislative and executive powers may arise. This is precisely why Yoon Suk-yeol issued a martial law order.

If South Korea were to adopt a parliamentary system, with the leader of the majority party in the National Assembly serving as the Prime Minister, such conflicts between legislative and executive powers would be impossible. This is because the National Assembly could pass a vote of no confidence to remove the Prime Minister, and the Prime Minister could request the Head of State to dissolve the Assembly and call for an early election.

Therefore, I believe South Korea should amend its Constitution in the future to transition to a parliamentary system, drawing inspiration from the systems of Germany and Italy.
