Do you make sauce for bibimbap seperately?

(Picture’s not by me)

I see so many recipes or youtube videos not spoken in korean to tell you to make sauce for bibimbap, with precise measurement of each items. They also often demand to put like 5+ ingredients just for the sauce.

I’m a native korean, and I always felt this very awkward. The most common way i think is to just throw some gochujang, drizzle some sesame oil, and thats it. No measurement, just use feeling.

Sure, there is no one and only authentic recipe for such a diverse dish that is bibimbap, and many other koreans do make their sauce. But i still dont get it. If I ever want extra minced garlic in my sauce, id rather throw straight into the bowl. Stuff like vinegar is pretty polarizing as well, so its much better to keep it simple if youre making bibimbap for somebody else.

Thats all of my rant. If youre making bibimbap just for yourself, it’s totally up to you. Do you make sauce seperately? or do you just throw whatever you can grab?
