Do non kpop fans read subtitles for kpop songs?

Every time when my friend or mom asks me to play a K-pop song, they complain that they can’t understand the lyrics. So I always put English subtitles on when I put on K-pop, but even if I do add the English subtitles, they still don’t have any reaction? Even when it’s an emotional or intense song with profound lyrics. Like can be a crazy diss track like Agust D or a sad song like Eyes, Nose, Lips.

I’m not sure what’s going on in a non-K-pop stan’s head. Do non-K-pop fans read subtitles? Because I always read them when my sister shows me her favorite anime or Japanese content.

If the answer is yes, does the song make sense, or are you guys still confused? Do the lyrics go too fast, or when you read a verse, do you comprehend it, or is it hard to understand everything? I could sit down and really explain one or two songs, but it’s going to be impossible to explain every K-pop song.

If the answer is no, why don’t they? Are K-pop MVs too overstimulating so you can’t focus on the lyrics? I also play just the lyrics video sometimes, and those videos are just the translation, so it should be easy to read. When I add English CC, I’m not expecting them to fully understand all the lyrics. I just hope you understand the basics and overall message.

Do non-K-pop fans just not like or want to read subtitles? Are you all stubborn or just genuinely don’t care? 🥲

I’m not sure what to do because the only way to fully understand the lyrics is to read the English CC. Now the words aren’t the only important thing about a K-pop song. It’s also the dancing, MV, and performance, but the lyrics are the main part of the music.
