I will talk about the time period from 2015 to 2019 because by that time , they were the undisputed number 1 group in K-Pop.
- Great Music – They had back to back straight bangers from 2015 to 2019 . I NEED U -> DOPE -> RUN -> FIRE -> BLOOD , SWEAT AND TEARS -> NOT TODAY -> SPRING DAY -> DNA -> MIC DROP -> FAKE LOVE -> IDOL -> BOY WITH LUV. Also they had amazing albums , mini albums and mixtapes. They actually make great music with good messaging.
- No Hiatus – They did not take any hiatus unlike their competitors. Ex. Winner – 2014-2016 and 2016-2017 , EXO – 2017-2018 then 2019-2022 (Military) , BIGBANG – 2018-2022 (Military) , BAP – 2014-2015 (Lawsuit) etc. . They completely capitalised on their momentum and took the top spot.
- No Major Scandals – They had no major scandals unlike their competitors. Ex. BIGBANG – Drug Scandals and Burning Sun , Monsta X – Wonho Drug Scandal , IKON – BI Drug Scandal etc.
- No Lineup Changes – BTS has had the same lineup ever since their debut unlike their competitors. Ex. BIGBANG – Seungri , EXO – Chinese members , IKON – BI , Winner – Taehyun , Monsta X – Wonho etc. They have a ride or die OT7 mentality. They didn’t even try to comeback in any other lineup even during enlistment. They decided to enlist together . Their unity is truly one of a kind.
- Proper Company Support – HYBE/Bighit is far from perfect but they are way better than other companies when it came to promoting their top group(s) . Ex. SM barely promoted EXO and instead focused on NCT / SuperM , YG is known for long gaps between music , JYP mismanaged GOT7 , TS ruined BAP. Bighit gave BTS proper promotions as their only groups and greatly aided BTS in their journey.
- ARMY – Love them or hate them. They played a huge role in the success of BTS. I have never seen a fandom as dedicated as them. They were the unpaid PR of BTS , they promoted BTS everywhere. Social Media , YT comments , Offline events. Without them , BTS wouldn’t be nearly as popular.
