Hybe is a conglomerate worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Their reputation (rightfully)took a hit amidst this scandal but they’ll eventually recover. All conglomerates eventually do. And this isn’t the first time we witness a big company being embroiled in a big scandal either. They were fine before nj and they’ll be fine after them.The most damage is being done to illit. Let me explain.
Illit is a rookie grp who experienced one of the nastiest hate trains of the year on the first day on the job. They don’t have the necessary fandom and name for themselves to be shielded from it for obvious reasons. Bc they’re extremely new,and experiencing a nasty hate train before getting to build a fandom and making a name for themselves in the industry. Senior grps who experienced bad hate trains and came through the other side did it bc of their fandom and hits. Meanwhile illit is less than a year old.
Unfortunately, when you’re in this position, the hate train does tend to affect your performance and stick to you. As an nmixx stan,who also experienced a nasty hate train within their first year,I noticed that after it died down,very few outsiders checked their music out despite the fact it’s extremely good. That’s bc the name of the grp who makes “unlistenable” music stuck with them.
Unfortunately,illit has been permanently branded as copy cats,which leaves them in a similar position. Outsiders refuse to give them a chance bc they think they stole from nj. Hopefully they’ll be able to overcome them bc they’re a great grp,but when you’re a rookie,it’s difficult
As for nj themselves,I don’t want them gone from the industry and I think they’ll leave a great hole behind if they do sue,but they have the right to decide for their careers and future,even if outsiders think it’s bad and destructive decisions. Negatively affecting their own careers is within their right,but it’s unfortunate that illit’s is also getting negatively affected,without them having control over this.
