The fascinating history of K-pop and MVs I should check out?

I had always heard “Blackpink is a continuation of 2NE1” but I guess when I looked up 2NE1 I saw something like “I don’t care” and I thought okay maybe that’s similar to “As If It’s Your Last” and “Lovesick Girls” but I don’t see the typical electronic dance sound.

But now I saw “I Am the Best” and now that explains it! “I Am the Best” is basically the blueprint for Blackpink’s hits, right? It’s like Teddy just took “I Am the Best” and copy-pasted it for the entirety of Blackpink’s title tracks. I’m sure they have different B sides, but their title tracks are all “I Am the Best”.

Is there any other foundational songs like this that I would hear and think that started a whole genre?

On a smaller scale I recently saw GFriend’s early stuff and I thought I recognized New Jeans there. New Jeans has a wide range of songs so they’ve done other stuff too, but specifically I felt like Ditto and Super Shy were like a modernized version of early GFriend.
