Sm has always saw red velvet a “background” sm has money to debut a robot but not enough money to promote rv, the fact that without any help from sm, rv was able to carry themselves into global success with bad boy, even Irene’s new solo is doing well in Korea with over 300k copies of album sold In the first week, red velvet had so many chanced to be as popular as bts or blackpink but because sm didn’t promote them, they never got the deserved fame, red velvet is also the only group that can cater to anyone, the red side is bright and energetic while the velvet side is vocally pleasing to the ear with slow jazz type music, whoever you are, you can enjoy red velvet, BUT YOU CANT ENJOY SOMETHING YOU’VE NEVER HEARD OF, if sm had so many chances to capitalise off the fame of their successful songs but chose not to, I think we can all agree that aespa, being a talented girl group could never make it as high as red velvet even If sm promotes the hell out of them (no hate on aespa). Red velvet is also the only group with a horror concept that actually made me feel uneasy and happy at the same time, their cosmic mv Is actually terrifying once you piece all the pictures, this coupled with the eargasmic song could’ve broken records but yet again sm didn’t promote cosmic. Red velvet has brought themselves to fame with no help from sm, the fact that they were able to reach high success without promotion is the crazy part, but sm didn’t do anything about it.
