I like this album but i have too many thoughts right now, so my opinions might change after a few more listens. I will get a little critical so if you can’t listen to criticism…… >>>
Deep Dive: The intro feels rushed and the outro is like edenary were in the process of making a banger and fell asleep halfway. Like??? KQ you know you’re supposed to release the whole song right?? The pre-chorus is amazing, it sounds so smooth in my ears, but the constant oohs are kinda annoying rating (7/10) The abrupt ending is really not it.
Scene 1 : Value: I love the abrupt change from ominous classical to ominous hip hop. Love it, one of the few intros i love and will add to my playlist (8.9/10)
Ice On My Teeth: Love me a good classical mashed with hip hop. I am gonna go put this on repeat and report back when I’m sick and tired of it 🫡. I love the rap at the beginning I’ve never heard ateez like that and when i first heard the teaser i was like “collab?? sample??” but it’s actually a member singing! The MV for ice on my teeth: it’s absurd and feels like a fever dream but also very elegant and…..rich, in a way. One of my favorite ateez MVs, second to only answer, inception and say my name. (9/10)
Man On Fire: I heard the intro and was thought “Welcome back 2018 Bollywood club music” and then the chorus hit, pack up birches we’re going driving in the desert at night, if that makes sense. The dance break at the end was a little random tho (8/10)
Selfish Waltz: This song feels like being all alone in space, floating endlessly but also it’s like feeling overwhelmed by the city lights. Like….I feel like a star that just exploded but it’s also so peaceful??? Idk I’m just rambling, maybe but I LOVE THIS it’s so…astral i don’t know any other word to describe it. I love this…….except Mingi’s rap….um yeah, no. What just happened cause that felt really out of place. (9.1/10) I like this better than ice on my teeth but only a teeny tiny bit.
Enough: The opening was so good and….No. ATEEZ have better ballads and fan songs. I can just imagine the executives going ‘Been a while since we did a fan song’ ‘yeah LETS THROUGH IN ONE’. This didn’t need to be on this album. Maybe “When there is no one for you When you just need a friend When you’re just feeling lonely” works for some but not for me. One Day at a Time is this song but 1000x better so go listen to it. (6/10)
Final thoughts: I like it, mostly, nice music to listen to, but I had high high hopes. If any other group released this i would be screaming crying throwing up but it’s ateez so i expect a lot more from them. Overall (8/10)
