The Gracias Choir was created by the cult church, Good News Mission Church—infamous for verbal/physical abuse, arranged marriages, and more. But most recently, the director of the choir (who is also the daughter of the church’s founder, Ock Soo Park) is on trial for the violent assault and murder of a high school choir member. Recent documentaries have come up regarding the choir and church’s abuse, violence, fraud, etc. The Choir used to have the Christmas Cantata in the United States every year. But ever since they got banned from entering the country, they have begun doing these tours in South Korea. The Gracias Choir’s Christmas Cantata Tour will start on Nov. 15 and will continue in 12 cities including Gwangju, Jeonju, Gwangju, Daejeon, Daegu, and Busan. On Interpark, it says that the ticket prices are 72,000won. However, usually nobody goes. So what happens is that church members are forced to buy the tickets in bulk and sell them to the people around them—and then inevitably give them out for free in order to fill out the empty seats in the stadiums. So essentially, church members end up paying for all the tickets because no one wants to see it. The Christmas Cantata consists of 3 acts: a reenactment of the birth of Jesus, the Little Match Girl, and a choral stage. But in the middle of the show, a pastor will come out and begin preaching the Good News Mission’s version of the “gospel.” Because of the all the media attention regarding the murder case from SBS, KBS, YTN, JTBC, etc., the Choir has been doing some PR management by making vlogs to show that their choir is actually not abusive and that they are all oh so happy and joyful to be there. But if you ask any choir member about their living quarters and how often they see their family—it is not at all happy and joyful. The church itself also has a lot of names under its umbrella in order to hide its horrible reputation. To name a few: • International Youth Fellowship • Christian Leaders Fellowship • We Together Foreigner Support Center • Seoul Gospel International Church • Taste of Korea • Korea Buddy If you’d like more info on the Church’s its infamous background check out: https://www.reddit.com/r/korea/comments/1d6em2x/message_to_foreigners_watch_out_for_this_cultist/ submitted by /u/Sufficient-Bid4924 |
