I really don’t know how to title this but I’ve been watching documentaries about idols before they debuted (such as training process and getting to know them) and something always stuck with me. Each time they talk about their childhood its always about how they won singing/dancing competitions, took lessons, used to be child models, may have appeared in some MV of a famous group as a side character.
It just makes me think a little, they had passions and were fully supported by their parents, makes me see korean society as very accepting of pursuing the arts. Here I’m used to the general thinking being “arts arent a real job” and being discouraged from trying anything. The kids grow up confident in themselves, as much as i despise the training system they develop skills a child with no support will never have. There’s not many idols that I know that didn’t get this kind of experience before auditioning/being scouted/winning a survival show.
Yeah, that’s about it i guess
