Can i use gochujang instead of gochugaru for making at home kimchi?

I’ve never made kimchi before, but I want to try it out. I looked for a bunch of simple recipes, but they always use gochugaru, and I’ve looked for it for so long, and I just can’t seem to find it. Is there any substitute for it? And if I use gochujang, will it taste good?
