Five years after its release, BTS’s Dynamite continues to sparkle, now crossing the 2 billion-view mark on YouTube — the group’s first music video ever to do so.
The music video for Dynamite, the band’s digital single released worldwide on Aug. 21, 2020, through HYBE Labels’ YouTube channel, topped 2 billion views on Thursday. It is the first BTS video to reach the landmark figure.
A bright and upbeat disco-pop track, Dynamite marked BTS’s first full-English release. The video, blending an infectious rhythm with playful yet dynamic choreography, captures the group’s signature energy while showcasing a breezy, feel-good concept.
The milestone adds to the song’s long list of global achievements. Just recently, Apple Music ranked Dynamite 34th on its list of the most-streamed songs worldwide over the past decade. Alongside Butter, it was the only K-pop entry in the ranking, underscoring BTS’s enduring global reach.
Upon release, the single set records as the first Korean act to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, holding the top spot for three weeks. It later went on to win “Best Song” at the 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards and “Top Selling Song” at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards. In Japan, the Recording Industry Association awarded it Diamond certification for surpassing 500 million streams in record time.
