They haven’t had a Korean comeback since last July which didn’t do that well and their recent Japanese full album didn’t make much noise either. I didn’t even know they were releasing a full album until the MV for Mwauh appeared on my YouTube recommendation. But it’s not even a proper mv, just clips from their previous promotions put together, and it’s a bit lackluster considering it’s actually a good song too. The thing is promotions for STAYC haven’t been the same since Cheeky Icy Thang, it’s evident that less effort and less effort is being put into promoting them compared to their earlier years. They haven’t had any official group schedule in Korea in 2026 too and 3 full months have already passed. Plus, we all should know by now that HighUp is debuting a new girl group and while it’s not really a bad thing, I’m also feeling extra nervous that a fresh new girl group will mean that STAYC will get sidelined or worse, abandoned by their company.
I know this may just be needless worries but I couldn’t help but imagining the worst especially since I’ve been quite unsure of their current musical direction too. Personally, I think they should’ve stuck to their Teenfresh concept a bit longer so they could develop a more established identity before moving on to a more mature concept. However, they seemed quite adamant to continue the mature concept so I am nervous what they’re gonna do next on their comeback because the comebacks with those concepts haven’t been doing that well. It’s sad because the quality of their music is still just as good as before too. I really just hope that their next comeback will do well and that they won’t be left behind by their company because I love these girls and their music way too much for that 🙁
So do you think HighUp will be able to manage both groups well? Or will we have to accept that STAYC will just be receiving the bare minimum from HighUp until their contracts end? And what do you think their next direction will be? I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this.
