After months of turmoil and uncertainty surrounding one of K-pop’s most closely watched legal disputes, the five members of NewJeans have taken a step toward stability. Opting for closure over prolonged confrontation, the group has decided not to contest a court ruling that upheld their exclusive contracts with ADOR—clearing the way for their gradual return to the stage.
According to the music industry on Nov. 14, members Haerin, Hyein, Minji, Danielle and Hanni did not file appeal documents by the midnight deadline, effectively finalizing the Oct. 30 first-instance ruling issued by the Seoul Central District Court.
In its decision, the court accepted ADOR’s request to confirm the validity of the contracts, ruling that “the exclusive agreements remain in effect,” and siding firmly with ADOR.
With the legal dispute now resolved, preparations for the group’s comeback are moving swiftly.
Haerin and Hyein were the first to formalize their return, announcing through ADOR on Nov. 12 that they would resume promotional activities. “We will provide full support to ensure the two members can continue their work smoothly,” ADOR said.
Minji, Danielle and Hanni also conveyed their intention to return on the same day, signaling that group activities will roll out in stages. ADOR added that it is “coordinating individual meetings with each member and will do its utmost to facilitate constructive discussions.”
