On a bunch of old Ateez videos, there are currently a ton of Korean comments posted within the last month praising the group and wondering why they hadn’t heard more about them before. You can see it on the videos for their Killing Voice episode, their Cyberpunk stage, their Halazia stage, and even their ISAC appearance. Here is a sample of some of the comments (auto-translated via YouTube):

I think they didn’t become famous in Korea first because they specialize in musical-style performances rather than catchy, shallow music. Looking at them now, they are really good, but it’s a genre that’s a bit hard to get into as a fan at first. I joined after watching “Bad.” I became interested and looked into them closely, and realized they were a group that was just amazing at performing.
KQ Entertainment, please triple your domestic concert schedule starting in 2026!!! You need to hold six shows over three weeks, one on each day of Saturday and Sunday, for everyone in the country to attend.

It reminded me (on a smaller scale) of when Day6 blew up in Korea in 2024, no fewer than 9 years after their debut. It remains to be seen if Ateez will be able to keep up their domestic momentum, but for now, I’m taking it as a spark of hope!
The lesson, for those of you who think your favorite group doesn’t get the recognition they deserve, either domestically or internationally: never give up! Never surrender!!! You never know when consistently making great music and great performances will FINALLY pay off for them!
