Was there any other Korean act compared to an influential Western Act?

I had noticed that there were a few K-pop acts that were compared to influential Western acts due to factors like global rise, popularity in Asia, or similar concepts.

BTS- They were compared to the Beatles a lot during their rise globally and attraction of a huge fanbase had led many media outlets to compare that level of popularity to Beatlemania.

Blackpink- While achieving success globally, they were often compared to the Spice Girls as the media had noticed the way both groups took over the world with the concept of girl power (Spice Girls) and girl crush (Blackpink).

Kim Wan-sun- While she wasn’t a K-pop idol, she was called the “Madonna of K-pop” due to her success in the mid-80s and early 90s with her music, dancing, stage presence, and bold image, she had broken norms for female singers during that time.

Do you guys have any other examples of Korean acts being compared to influential Western acts by the media?

Disclaimer:Please be civil and do not downplay any popularity of a group that is or isn’t a Korean act. Also the acts (Korean and Western) that were mentioned above had achieved their own popularity, success, legacy, influence, and cultural impact as this was just comparisons by the media due to the remembrance of the way these Western acts had gotten popular during their time.
