I want to hear from you guys on this kind of topic.
I’m a college student from PH. My friends and I had a small talk about debuting as an idol while we were in a small cafe. They said If you want to debut as an idol while having our Filipino heritage intact, go train your butt off straight and aim for a US-based global group because in K-pop, they’re gonna prioritise Koreans first, and obviously K-pop was made for Koreans, following East Asians like Japanese and Chinese.
They state the pros of being in a global girl group (we’re all women btw) are no language barrier because everyone would likely talk in English, meet people from different nationalities and ethnic backgrounds, be freer, like you may be allowed to swear, be chaotic, etc. and not sit quietly like a perfect robot in front of the cameras, AND you and your group would aim for the GLOBAL MARKET and not limited to Asia itself+ your identity would also be part of the group representing your roots. This is easier for non-Koreans, especially for non-asians.
Take note that my girlies are all K-pop fans, but they’re just being realistic about it if someone wants to be an idol and be part of a famous group.
