What do you guys think of members that barely get screentime or lines?

I am not talking about single instances of line distribution or mvs but the constant pushing that u can pretty much see which member is more successful or popular.

It just makes wonder about this in kpop ,in every single group there is a member who is obviously so pushed .They get brand deals , popularity and fame .They start the song , sing the chorus and is center and is basically the face of the group .Sometimes they have multiple positions in the group and sing 40-60 percent of the group’s lines and songs .even when there is a subunit or collab with other artists ,that member usually goes or is selected. That member always makes the first solo debut too.

I don’t usually mind these cus I mean nothing is gonna change ,the company made these decisions and fans cannot change that by complaining or throwing a outrage .Some idols do more efforts like writing their own songs or making connections but groups under entertainment usually depend on the companies itself.

But what confuse me is when fans start to defend said favouritism by saying stuff like this song suits them ,the concept suits them or they are the best singer or fans just loves them more etc etc ,or if the members didn’t like it , they would have complained(umm, like groups totally get a say in creative decisions).

Number 1 ,why debut a group and make concepts that suit a particular member.

Number 2,why debut members who can’t sing.

This isn’t to say that we need to perfectly chop up the screentime and lines of a song. Why not just debut a group where every member can sing and be utilised . Isn’t that the difference between stanning a soloist and group? You get to see how different voices can come together and make a banger.

Not to mention, even if one member sings majority of a song for one comeback ,why not let another member have the most number of line for another.I don’t mean to microanalyze but when u watch those line distribution videos ( you can see who gets most number of lines in every single comeback and even in all the bsides in the album ).This happens every single comeback.

Nothing will change in kpop,I am aware about that and when the group disbands in the end ,that one member end up having a successful or relevant solo career while most of the other members fade into oblivion or is never seen again.

Wouldn’t these members feel resentment or feel disappointed when they don’t get viral moments or feel annoyed at some point .I mean they trained and debuted.Popularity is not something you can control but the opportunities and bookings that u get can be affected if u aren’t the noticable member of your group.Your earnings can be affected as well and your position in the group can determine how well u do after the group disbands. Some members might leave the idol field after disbandment but most of them have poor to non-existent careers after the group disbands.

Not to mention why debut members who can’t sing and then give them two lines and two secs of screen time every single comeback. Why are they even there at all?

Curious to see if any k-pop idols spoken about this during the group’s run or after their disbandment? It feels like most fans defend this just because the rest of members seem okay with this but the fact nothing changes or nobody is talking about this just proves that the company is just pulling all the strings.
