Some of Hybe’s actions recently, even though criticized, actually build a stronger “Hybe family” brand. By placing their artists comeback close to each other, like Txt, Tws, Lesserafim, Illit, Cortis all dropping albums in April and May, we have constant interaction between these groups on TikTok and music shows, and people are making many videos showcasing the friendship between Keonho and Wonhee as well as Illit and Cortis being 5th gen siblings; or Txt and Cortis being Bighit brothers. Not to mention Le SSerafim making Boompala remixes with every other Hybe groups, and all these groups are always singing others’ songs in their lives, like Yunah jamming to RedRed or Keonho singing Celebration. Then, throughout the last year, Illit, Le SSerafim and Katseye have always had interactions, whether shared livestreams or small meetups, and recently, since their comebacks all feature techno, club music, they were criticized for doing the same sounds, and now they’re doing a collab with each other, so people are always thinking of these three groups in relation to one another, they receive hate together and fans defend them together. And since Hybe has a lot of 4th gen and 5th gen groups and they’re all similar in age, their interaction feels very natural and friend-like.
We can contrast this with JYP, even though JYP exists for a long time before Hybe, doesn’t have constant interaction between artists (like Twice, Stray Kids, Nmixx, Itzy, Kickflip just don’t feel like there’s a strong connection among them) and there don’t seem to exist lots of JYP stans. They should start building the family image like Hybe does.
